Ollie's encounter of the 'crab' kind

We haven't written for a while. Ollie is growing and growing. Looking at the pictures from last year, I am much surprised he was smaller even though he was already a year old then.
In the meantime we moved from the little house in Nieuwkoop to a little larger hourse in Aarlanderveen, just 3 km away from Nieuwkoop and the lake. We are not that close anymore at the lake. Lu
ckily Aafke got her little boat this year and we have been taking lovely boat trips on the lake in the evening. At the new house we have a lovely view over the pastures with cows and sheep.

The dike behind the house gives lots of opportunities for Olli
e to run around. The only thing he misses are his four legged friends from Nieuwkoop as there a less dogs here.

We try to go to the beach as much as possible. In this video we were at the beach last October when Ollie encountered a strange species of the crab kind. Ollie hardly ever barks. He wouldn't even bark when strangers would come to our house. He'd rather carry the burglars torch then bark. However seeing a crab was way too scary. In this video I have captured his fear for a tiny crab.

Also have we been very sad since Krummel disapeared last March. She never returned home. After months of searching we finally decided to warm up Krummel basket with a new kitten 'Socks'. Socks was born on a nursery and I took her home when she was about 11 weeks old. She looks a little like Krummel and is also black and white. Nevertheless they differ a lot in caracter. Where Krummel was a very homy and cuddly cat, Socks is out and about and only comes home for her food. As soon as she enters the house, the first thing she does is to run to Ollie to give him a good rub. She would completely ignore me unless her bowl is empty. At first she was a bit afraid of Ollie and it took a week for her to get used to Ollie. Ollie was also very frightened of a hissing new playtoy. Now they are the best of friends and they usually sleep together and the two of them are always in for some rough play.
Also featuring is this video are my my patio flowers and ducklings. Two years ago 2 wild dame ducks came to my house and I fed them. When they got their offspring (some 25 all together) the first thing they did was introducing them to me and soon I had 25 wobbly ducklings on the patio. Whenever i called their names "Babies' they came running. At that time there was the bird flew and sadly I had to nurse many of my ducklings, but none of them made it. They all died.

This is a rough copy of the final one to come.
Enjoy!
