Dutch Skating Fever

Skating Fever is a typical Dutch self inflicted disease.
After a couple of days of frost when ditches are barely frozen over, you will find half of  the Dutch population on the ice, socializing while (trying) skating and enjoying at a 'koek 'n sope'. Little self made booths with whatever material, where you can enjoy a hot soup, some well needed alcohol like Beerenburger or stroopwafel, a typical dutch sweet delight.

We have had some droopy months this winter, but finally changed when it began freezing last week with record lows last night of -23 degrees C.
I looked more like the horrible snowman, dressed up in all the clothes I could find protecting myself against the cold and icy wind, when taking Ollie out for our evening walks.

Today was the first beautiful day full of sunshine and even the temperature was bearable.

This post to be finished soon with today's pictures of appropriate music of course.

Enjoy!
